BIOGRAPHIES

Darryl Anderson is the Managing Director of Wave Point Consulting and Mercy Ships Canada. He is a transportation and logistics executive skilled in building teams to overcome the obstacles of moving goods and people to market. He has worked with international trade, supply chain participants, transport service providers and shippers for 30 years. He was awarded an MBA (Distinction) from the Australian College, BA from Trinity Western University and a Certificate in Shipping and Marine Operations from BCIT. He is an active member of the Pacific Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation and an associate member of the Real Estate Institute of British Columbia.

Jon Ratnasamy is always drawn to the constant change and challenge of Supply Chain, Jon has had the opportunity to work across its various disciplines; planning, logistics, sourcing and strategy. Currently the Director of Logistics & Distribution at Wolseley Canada, Jon is responsible for the flow of goods into, through and out of the supply chain – including National Distribution Centre operations. Prior to joining Wolseley, Jon worked as a Senior Consultant with Deloitte where he served clients in the public and private sectors, primarily focused on engagements in the Logistics and Sourcing space. Jon lives in Mississauga with his wife, Kristen, infant twins, Kai and Maren, and their rambunctious dog, Albus.

Bob Voltmann has lead the Transportation Intermediaries Association as its President & CEO since June 1997. TIA is the voice of the third-party logistics industry; an industry growing at a rate of two to three times US GDP. During Bob’s tenure, TIA has grown to represent more than 70 percent of the industry by value, representing companies from publicly traded to start up. Bob was elected by his peers to become Secretary General of FIATA, the international association of third-party logistics associations. TIA is the US member of FIATA.

Bob serves as a member of the US Chamber’s Committee of 100 trade association CEOs. Bob represents TIA at the Small Business Legislative Council. Prior to joining TIA, Bob was Director of Policy for the National Industrial Transportation League where he headed the shipper team negotiating the transportation rules of NAFTA. Before his NIT League position, Bob was appointed by President George H. W. Bush to serve at the US Interstate Commerce Commission.

For three decades, Bob has been directly involved in affecting the major transportation legislative and regulatory initiatives affecting the transportation industry.

Bob and his wife Ginger live in Alexandria, Virginia on land once part of George Washington’s estate.

Magali Amiel joined Decathlon Canada in November 2019 as Transportation Leader. She is an experienced manager in the logistics and transportation sector, holding a doctorate in transportation geography and logistics and bring more than ten years of experience in the industry.

She started her professional experiences with IBI Group as a project manager and worked on transportation projects in North-America. Then she joined CargoM (the logistics and transportation cluster of Greater Montreal) as Director Strategy & Projects, where she worked on projects for transportation fluidity, innovation, economic development and workforce.

Passionate about the issues related to logistics chain performance and to economic and strategic development in transport, she developed expertise recognized by industry professionals. She is especially keen on multimodal freight transport, the supply and logistics chain, structuring networks and intelligent transportation systems.

She is Vice-President Development and Networking for the Quebec Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport North America, and part of the International Next Generation Committee of CILT.

Dan Bresolin, Vice President of Intermodal is responsible for all Sales and Marketing components of CN’s International, Domestic, Supply Chain Sales (Regional), CN Worldwide, and CN’s Asia Marketing Teams. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Consumer Product Supply Chain, Dan’s primary role is to enable CN’s customers to win in their markets and help create CN’s next generation of Railroaders.

Prior to this role, Dan was responsible for the full scope of the Sales and Marketing areas of CN’s International book of business including managing all relationships with Ocean Carriers and Port Stakeholders on the three coasts that CN serves. Before that, Dan was the Director of Marketing, Intermodal International, accountable for all aspects of pricing, strategy, new product development, & contract analysis for CN’s entire Intermodal International business.

Dan has also held leadership positions in Sales at CN including Director of Sales in International and Director of Strategic Sales in Domestic Intermodal. Dan joined CN in April, 1999 as a Domestic Intermodal Account Manager based in Toronto ON.

Dan takes great pride in his knowledge and experience in rail operations and has taken full advantage of CN’s Management operations training programs. During his 20 years at CN, Dan has qualified as both a Rail Conductor and an Intermodal Crane Operator. Dan is a Graduate of Brock University in St. Catherines Ontario and currently lives in Stoney Creek ON with his wife and two children.

James Pettifer is Finance Manager for Hutchison Ports European Portfolio, based in London. He is part of the transaction team to build, operate and develop a new container terminal in Quebec, in partnership with CN Rail and Quebec Port Authority.

Pettifer holds a bachelors degree from the London School of Economics. Before joining Hutchison, he worked in a Corporate Finance house, advising on sell / buy-side mandates. Before that, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with EY, working in London and Mexico.

Following the completion of his degree, he joined Tailwind Transportation Software, and is now one of their longest-serving team members, quickly approaching 12-years with the company in several roles. Regardless of the position, Kyle has always maintained his focus on being an advocate for the customer. Now, as the Director of Product Design and Delivery, he's the driving force behind how the Tailwind TMS is enhanced to help customers achieve greater success in their business.

He has held senior management positions with some of Canada’s largest transport companies both courier and larger freight, along with food service distribution & manufacturers, property security, and a start-up IT company. Prior to his current position, William was the General Manager Western Region (Canada) for the worlds 2nd largest global freight forwarder.

Today, William is the President of Canadian Alliance Terminals based in Vancouver. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of British Columbia and has had executive level training at the University of Toronto.

William is an active mentor in Futurpreneur Canada, guiding start up “Millennial Entrepreneurs”. In his spare time, you will find him both coaching and actively pursuing long distance running. He has raced 20 marathons including the Boston Marathon in 2005, 2011 and 2015 and most recently New York in 2019.

Andrew Wynn-Williams, Divisional Vice President, BC, Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters. Andrew is responsible for CME BC’s strategic vision, managing relations with members and advocating on behalf of their interests. He is also responsible for liaison with government and other stakeholders such as the coalition of industry groups and other economic developers. Also, he leads teams to create new CME programs to bring additional value to members through advocacy, training and business development.

Andrew Wynn-Williams joined CME as the Divisional Vice President, BC, in October 2016. He is an experienced professional who has worked to create policy change with a variety of board-driven organizations since 1995. He spent eight years as the Director of Policy and Communications for the BC Chamber of Commerce, six years as the Director of Operations for the Premier’s Technology Council and over three years as the Executive Director of the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness.

Through this work, he has developed expertise in policy development, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, advocacy and communications strategies. He has developed particular strength in working to simplify complex issues and communicate them effectively.

Mr. Niel van Zyl is from South Africa and started off his career in Logistics in 1994. He immigrated to Canada in 2005 and has been with VMAC for over 12 years. Niel runs the shipping department and is involved in the distribution of VMAC products throughout the world. Due to this strong international aspect of VMAC’s business, Niel obtained his Certified Customs Specialist designation through the Canadian Society of Customs Brokers back in 2013. He is currently studying to achieve his MBA in Operations Management and Logistics through the Barcelona Executive Business School.

Carly Fryer, manager of Global Logistics at STEMCELL Technologies was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in 2005 at Simon Fraser University and returned in 2014 to complete her Master of Business Administration from the Beedie School of Business. Carly started her career in Logistics with Loomis/DHL Courier Service in 2001, as part of their Customer Service team. She later worked in the public sector in demand-side management and program management. Carly worked at both the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as part of the Logistics Management team at the Athletes Villages with operations running 24 hours a day during the games. She has been with STEMCELL Technologies for four years, first as the Customer Service Manager for the North America team and now as the Global Logistics Manager.

Mike Battistel is the President of Langley-based manufacturer Cascadia Windows & Doors, Mike Battistel is at the leading edge of building product innovation. Over the past 11 years, Battistel has been at the helm of Cascadia as the company’s award-winning fiberglass windows and doors, commercial window wall and patented cladding support systems have revolutionized the energy efficiency of residential and commercial buildings.

Delivering products to architects, developers, glazing installers and residential builders across North America, Battistel oversees all facets of Cascadia’s operations, including manufacturing, product innovation and business development.

An internationally recognized leader in the building science and enclosure industries, Battistel routinely consults with various regulatory jurisdictions, offering insights and input into modernizing and improving building codes and best practices.

In addition, Battistel is considered one of the key building enclosure industry educators in British Columbia. Since 2002, Battistel has taught various courses at BCIT, winning the Teaching Excellence Award in 2009. Battistel has also develop numerous AIBC, AIA and BOABC approved presentation and delivered them to hundreds of architects, building code and enclosure conferences.
